I bought this "reduced" to £36 from an apparent price of £55. In fact, the reduced price isn't hard to find elsewhere. I'd seen it before and wanted one. But it seemed like a lot of money to spend on a weed puller when you can get the little notched lever ones for about £5-10. I've used various sizes of those and with a bit of practice they're... okay. However, when I finally gave in and bought the Fiskars one it was a game changer - there is no way I will ever use the lever ones again. There are no shortage of videos showing this in action. However, because the reviewers focus on showing the rather clever action of the puller step-by-step it makes it look like a slow process to pull up and release each weed. It isn't - it's very fast and much, much faster than using one of the basic tools. First of all, this is really nicely made as you would expect for a Fiskars product. The parts are metal and feel study, but the hollow aluminum(?) body means that it's very light weight. The amount of strength required to use this is minimal since it operates using a lever action rather than a physical "pull" - someone very elderly could easily use this and would definitely benefit from the fact it is used in a standing position. As an equivalent, if you can open a car door, you are strong enough to use this - i.e. it requires no strength at all. The size of the "hole" left in the lawn is very minimal. It's certainly small enough that it requires no filling - just a foot over the top will squash the sides in and hide it. You are essentially removing the roots and maybe a heaped tablespoon of soil, maximum (often less). I was worried I'd be leaving small craters in my lawn, but that's not at all the case. It's very effective at removing the tap root of weeds like dandelions, and will whip out a couple of inches of root with no special care required. Damp soil is ideal (e.g. morning dew) because it's nice and soft. A really nice feature is the sliding handle that releases the weed. The weed is held in the jaws until you release it which means you can throw a bucket down, then extract each weed and release it into the bucket without needed to a) touch the weed, or b) stoop down. The whole process can be done from a standing position with no effort whatsoever. At £36 I have no regrets whatsoever over ordering this, and I was initially very skeptical. At £55 I think it would be pretty expensive but still worthwhile if you regularly remove weeds from your lawn - the time and effort that it will save you over many years would be worth it. However, since it seems to be constantly sold somewhere at the £36-ish price you shouldn't need to pay the full £55 in any case.
